IMPROVISATIONS (2014)

Metamorphosis/Belgrade

Metamorphosis/Belgrade Improvisations are drawings with a visual vocabulary deriving from the urban environment of Belgrade, Serbia. Abstract forms and patterns latent in manhole covers, water drains, etc. are documented on location, taken out of their initial context and given a new function as units of a composition created in an improvisational manner. Each drawing is connected to a Trace (Trace A, Trace B, etc.), a documentation sample from which the form that "builds" the composition is drawn. In this way, each Trace corresponds to a series of drawings. 

Archival notes: The works are executed with powdered pigment in black and turquoise on Arches 100% cotton paper.
