METAMORPHOSIS
Ongoing work exploring the poetic potential of urban elements with a focus on the practices of public intervention, drawing and installation. Developing in dialogue with diverse urban environments it has taken place in Athens, Greece, Berlin, Germany, Belgrade, Serbia, London, UK, and across the USA. The video Metamorphosis/Kurfürstendamm (04:33 min) is a documentation of the Berlin project and provides an insight into the practices of Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis/Athens Urban elements from the city's layer of manhole covers, pavement tiles, etc. are documented, taken out of their initial context and given a new -poetic- function. Documentation samples drawn: January 2014 - (continuing) Metamorphosis/Kurfürstendamm The project draws on elements of the Kurfürstendamm area in Berlin, Germany. It expands in the fields of historical memory in dialogue with the Stolpersteine, commemorative plaques for those deported and killed during the Nazi era. Documentation samples drawn: March 2014 Metamorphosis/Belgrade Elements documented from Belgrade, Serbia, gave rise to Improvisational drawings, a selection of which is presented here. More work based on documentation material from the city is in progress. Documentation samples drawn: April 2014 Metamorphosis/London The practice of Metamorphosis in dialogue with London's urban environment unfolded largely during the process of the documentation phase and expanded to include artist books created on location.
