Metamorphosis/Athens
New series continuing the practice of Improvisations, drawings exploring the poetic potential of urban elements in Athens, Greece. Abstract forms and patterns latent in the city's "invisible" layer of pavement tiles, manhole covers, benches, etc. are documented on location, taken out of their initial context and given a new - poetic - function as building blocks of a self-contained visual structure. Each Improvisation is executed in powdered pigment on paper with the repetitive application of a single form that serves as the unit/building block for the composition. The works presented here continue the series initiated in the beginning of 2014 drawing on a form traced from a metallic bench.
Archival notes: The works are executed with powdered pigment in white on handmade 100% cotton paper.
